Winter temperatures in Nepal were lower than average this year. This created the need for an emergency relief effort to prevent the many displaced Nepali’s living in inadequate housing from freezing to death. Once again Keshab and Sushma Regmi of Manjushris’s Helpers stepped up to help alleviate suffering by helping their fellow countrymen.
WHN funded the purchase of 270 very cozy woolen blankets that were distributed in two different areas earthquake affected areas. 120 blankets were distributed in Vimtar Village in Sindhupalchok. In Panchakanya VDC wards no. 8 and 9 150 blankets were given out. Panchakanya is located in Makawanpur District.
Relief aid, while well intentioned, often ends up in the pockets of corrupt local bureaucrats and/or multinational contracts, with very little reaching the people that actually need it. Ensure that your contributions reach those in need.
