The district and town of Gorkha was one of the hardest hit by the April 25th, 2015 earthquake. Getting children back to school has been a very important step in normalizing their traumatized lives. Adding computer education where none existed before is the cherry on top.
This is our Project Leader Sandesh Poudel’s 4th school , bringing the hardware and software to start a successful program at Himalayan Higher Secondary School at Simjung-4 in Gorkha District. He works closely with the school administrators and local community to assess the type of program needed and follows up with teacher training and the creation of an E-library. The grant includes money to follow up with the school and make sure the children are learning.
This is the first step in creating a full computer lab with up to 25 computers and a digital projector so that every student in the school can become computer literate which is so important in today’s high tech world. WeHelpNepal is committed to supporting this project to completion over the next year.
Relief aid, while well intentioned, often ends up in the pockets of corrupt local bureaucrats and/or multinational contracts, with very little reaching the people that actually need it. Ensure that your contributions reach those in need.
