Three days ago a glacier collapse sent a wall of water and debris through Nepal's river valleys. Here's where things stand and what We Help Nepal is doing right now.
Reaching the places relief isn't reaching. Some of the hardest-hit communities are cut off — roads and bridges are gone, and aid isn't getting through. We're organizing transportation, including a helicopter, to carry supplies directly into those areas.
Food. We're sourcing grain — rice and other staples — at wholesale so contributions go further and families have something to cook now.
Shelter for survivors from Rasuwa. More than 250 people have arrived in Kathmandu after surviving the flood that destroyed their village in Rasuwa district, one of the most affected and remote parts of the country. Kishor Lohani is working with the municipality to secure land, free of charge, to set up a shelter camp, and sourcing tents directly from a manufacturer so these families have a safe place to stay.
On the ground. Bikash Sapkota is delivering supplies. We're collaborating with other groups to source what people need and fielding requests coming in from different villages — medicine, emergency supplies, food — so aid lands where it's needed.
This is mutual aid. We're not a large relief agency — we're a network of people with 30 years of ties to Nepal, moving resources straight to the communities and local organizers who know what their neighbors need. Your contribution goes to transport, food, shelter, medicine, and survival supplies.

Relief aid, while well intentioned, often ends up as part of a large bureaucracy, with very little reaching the people that actually need it.
