Today it was a chance to meet the policy makers, government officials, bureaucrats to hear their story of the whole post disaster efforts and summarize what went wrong and what we should learn. Meanwhile, my team organized a dental camp at Swayabhu where the displaced people from Langtang had been kept.
Great work by Niti Foundation and its partners to conduct this mega event which showcased experts as well as those volunteers that have been supporting the sufferers. The numbers for the dental camp were a bit less than expected as the date coincided with a local festival for the community. We have a request to come again which we aim to do soon. Dr. Archana Pradhan from Australia joined us in our camp today.
Relief aid, while well intentioned, often ends up in the pockets of corrupt local bureaucrats and/or multinational contracts, with very little reaching the people that actually need it. Ensure that your contributions reach those in need.
