Helter Shelter: 20 Shelters Built in Belkotgadhi!

When we announced Helter Shelter, the foundations were just going into the ground. Today, 20 shelters are built in Belkotgadhi. The volunteers have just gotten back home from building the last 2.

Each one is 6 meters by 4 meters with two rooms, built by the families who’ll live in them, alongside incredible local volunteers. The materials are fully reusable, so nothing is wasted once permanent housing comes through.

$1,450 covers one full setup: the shelter, a toilet stall and wash station, and a cabinet with a locker to keep a family’s belongings secure.

More families in Belkotgadhi are still waiting, so we’re raising $29,000 to build 20 more, and we’re already nearly halfway there. Will you help us finish the next 20?

AN UPDATE FROM DHULIKHEL HOSPITAL

Tomorrow, the team will proceed to Tupche, Nuwakot, where it will conduct a two-day multispecialty health camp. The camp will provide medical services to the local community, with the aim of addressing immediate healthcare needs and supporting communities affected by the disaster.

You can support their work directly at wehelpnepal.org/dhulikel_hospital.

Thank you for taking the time to read this update, and for being part of We Help Nepal.

Relief aid, while well intentioned, often ends up as part of a large bureaucracy, with very little reaching the people that actually need it. Other times, local governments are simply overwhelmed and in a state of triage. We find ways to fill in the gaps. Ensure that your contributions reach those in need.
