Support Needed - Computers for Quake Zone Schools

Ganesh Tech Nepal, a post-earthquake collective of Nepali volunteers, to expand these programs with additional teacher training, well thought out curriculum planning, an e-library, additional software and when appropriate more computers and a digital projector to assist in teaching larger classes.

Sandesh and his team have tirelessly continued their efforts to help their people, first through temporary toilets and now through education that fits our model of disaster relief to sustainable development.  The silver lining in all of this is the empowerment of young leaders like Sandesh who will move their country forward.  Roughly $2,000 per school is needed to move this program forward.

With funding from WHN, Ganesh Tech has installed computers in 4 schools in the earthquake zone.  All the schools were damaged in the earthquake and getting the students back to a normal learning routine is vital to their wellbeing.  Although the schools had qualified teachers the government had not provided any computers or software.  Through 4 grants of approximately $1800 each we provided 5 networked computers, computer desks and software so that both girl and boy students will have an opportunity to learn computer skills so vital to participating in the modern world.

Relief aid, while well intentioned, often ends up in the pockets of corrupt local bureaucrats and/or multinational contracts, with very little reaching the people that actually need it. Ensure that your contributions reach those in need.
