Building Bal Balika Kids Camp

The Lotus Group has been running a kids camp for children age 2-7 since the earthquake. A few days ago, a big storm knocked out their temporary shelter. Today, volunteers began rebuilding the community center with bamboo materials. Soon it will be ready for school and art classes again.

Happy Mama. Mother of a young infant about 2 years old, a girl child, gives us a smile after learning she can drop her child to the "Bal Balika Camp". She is from Sindupalchowk and a few hours of time relief will mean she can do other chores or look for work as a wage laborer. She has an older child, a seven year old boy, who has already been attending our camp for several days now. We are now looking to give continuity to the Bal balika camp as we think there will be a need even after 3-4 days when most of the kids might go back to their schools so any/all support is greatly appreciated.

Relief aid, while well intentioned, often ends up in the pockets of corrupt local bureaucrats and/or multinational contracts, with very little reaching the people that actually need it. Ensure that your contributions reach those in need.
